Strengthening Academic Quality, Department Of Animal Science Universitas Diponegoro Holds Workshop On Semester Learning Plan Development

The Department of Animal Science, Faculty of Animal and Agricultural Sciences, Universitas Diponegoro, organized a Workshop on the Development of Semester Learning Plans (Rencana Pembelajaran Semester / RPS) based on Outcome Based Education (OBE) and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) on Wednesday (May 13, 2026) at the Ruang Serba Guna (RSG) of the Faculty of Animal and Agricultural Sciences. The workshop, held from 08.00 to 15.00 WIB, was attended by approximately 85 lecturers from the Faculty of Animal and Agricultural Sciences, Universitas Diponegoro.

The workshop was conducted as an effort to enhance the quality of teaching and learning while strengthening the implementation of an outcome-based curriculum aligned with the current demands of higher education. In addition, the activity also served as part of the faculty’s preparation to improve academic quality assurance and study program accreditation.

The event was officially opened by the Dean of the Faculty of Animal and Agricultural Sciences, Prof. Sugiharto, S.Pt., M.Sc., Ph.D. In his opening remarks, he emphasized that the transformation of higher education learning systems should be able to produce graduates who are excellent, adaptive, and capable of making meaningful contributions to society.

“The Semester Learning Plan is no longer merely an administrative document, but also a guideline for creating a learning process that is structured, measurable, and oriented toward achieving graduate learning outcomes,” he stated.

The workshop featured three speakers with expertise in curriculum development, quality assurance, and higher education accreditation. The first speaker, Prof. Ir. Juni Sumarmono, M.Sc., Ph.D., IPU., ASEAN Eng, as Head Development Learning and Quality Assurance (LPMPP) of Jenderal Soedirman University, delivered a presentation on the development of SDGs-based RPS in accordance with LAMPTIP accreditation criteria for study programs.

During his presentation, Prof. Juni highlighted the importance of integrating SDGs into the learning process so that courses are not only theory-oriented, but also contribute to solving real-world societal challenges.

The workshop continued with a presentation by Dr. Nanik Utami Handayani, S.Si., M.T, as Head of the Internal Quality Assurance Center of LP2MP, Universitas Diponegoro, regarding the preparation of OBE-based RPS according to Universitas Diponegoro standards. She explained the alignment between learning outcomes, learning activities, and assessment methods within the OBE framework.

The afternoon session featured Prof. Dr. Ir. Syaiful Anwar, M.Sc, as LAMPTIP assessor presented material on the development of assessment rubrics and examination questions aligned with the OBE-based curriculum. Participants also engaged in discussions on designing assessment instruments capable of objectively and measurably evaluating student learning outcomes.

Prior to the workshop, each laboratory within the Faculty of Animal and Agricultural Sciences had been asked to submit their existing course RPS documents for review by the invited speakers. During the workshop, all lecturers were also required to bring the RPS of the courses they teach in order to revise and adjust them directly based on the speakers’ feedback and recommendations.

The Head of the Undergraduate Animal Science Study Program, Ir. Rudy Hartanto, S.Pt., M.P., Ph.D., IPM, explained that the workshop was not limited to theoretical presentations, but also produced tangible follow-up outcomes in the form of improved learning documents.

“The output of this workshop is the development of revised course RPS documents that have been adjusted to OBE standards, SDGs principles, and the criteria presented by the speakers. After the workshop, all lecturers are required to resubmit their revised RPS documents for further evaluation,” he explained.

Through this activity, the Undergraduate Animal Science Study Program of Universitas Diponegoro hopes to further improve and standardize the quality of the learning process while producing graduates who are competent, adaptive, and aligned with the needs of industry and society.
